MISSION
The club mission is to promote an interest in gardening, landscape design, flower arranging and to encourage the study of horticulture. Our goal is to assist garden club members and members of the community to develop an interest in civic beauty within the community.
WHAT WE DO
In the past, the New Providence Garden Club has decorated the Governor's Mansion at Christmas, created table decorations for the Red Cross Society's Gala and provided flowers for the Lyons Veterans Hospital.
The Garden Club's ongoing endeavor has been to create and maintain the gardens at the Salt Box Museum as well as donating and planting bulbs in the borough to beautify our community.
Beginning in the fall of 2014, members planted the flower boxes in front of the library, along the walkway; with seasonal plant material.
The club also has been participating in the New Providence Fall Street Fair, each fall, sharing information to the public and providing a free plant raffle.
MEETINGS
Programs are held one Monday every month at the New Providence Memorial Library, 377 Elkwood Ave., New Providence; from September through June. No meetings July or August. Business meetings take place after each program. The December and January meeting are members only. In December, members use their talents to create some type of floral creation to take home and enjoy. The January meeting is an outreach activity to our community, where members create some type of floral arrangement or craft; which are presented to seniors residing in the Manor Apartments, across from the library.
